Welcome to My Mama Project! I’m Jennifer, a wife to an incredibly understanding and loving man and a mama to the sweetest and most spirited little boy I know…and I am so glad you are here! I am just a mama raising her tribe with gumption and grace. That phrase couldn’t better describe what I am all about these days.
In my favorite movie, The Holiday (if you haven’t seen it then you must do something to fix this situation immediately!), one of the main characters finally tells off the guy who has been stringing her along for years. As she finally kicks him out of her house and her life, he asks her, “What exactly has got into you?” She responds with a smirk, “I don’t know. But I think what I’ve got is something slightly resembling, gumption!” Gumption, love it! It is courage and confidence. As a first time mom, I learned quickly that raising a child required a lot of courage and if you’re lucky, the confidence to know that you are doing your best every day…even on the bad days. And there are bad days. That’s where the grace comes in. I have been known to be hard on myself at times when things don’t turn out as perfectly as I had planned (my poor husband can attest to this better than anyone). But I have learned to give myself some grace. To know that everyday I am being the best wife and mama I can be and well, that is something to be proud of.
I started this blog in 2016 (I know, I’m kinda a newbie at this) with the hopes that I could share my life with all of you. I hope you will stick around for the ups and downs of parenting, and hopefully a bit of fun, fashion, DIY, and decor as well. I live in an 85 year old house that I have lovingly renovated and am a sucker for a good antique. If anyone finds a great antique scale, let me know….been looking for one for ages! I love DIY projects, but will be the first to admit that mine always seem to go wrong somewhere. At least I will be able to tell you what NOT to do! And lastly, fashion…I love new trends and trying out different styles. However, if this mama is anything, it is “on a budget.” I promise to bring you all the best that Target, Old Navy, and TJ Maxx has to offer. And of course the occasional on sale piece from Nordstrom. Thanks for joining me as I work on my biggest (and best) project yet, motherhood.
